A weekend where the human spirit has won
The human spirit can so often be captivating and I have been blessed to have been witness to it on numerous occasions. This is mainly due to being involved in athletic coaching as well as involved in the development of a running information portal Friday evening I was able to witness something quite spectacular which took place during the Women's Pentathlon 800m, which was won by Belgium's Tia Hellebaut. I wrote about this yesterday and the title of Tia Hellebaut and Kelly Sotherton value for money And today I was yet gain able to witness the human spirit displayed via years of perseverance in the form of Australia's Tamsyn Lewis winning the 800m title at the very same World Track Champs in Valencia, Spain. In the link to the Track section, there is a header image consisting of athletes, Tamsyn Lewis is in that image, all the other athletes had won medals at Major Championship events and had retired, she was the only one who until today had not won a major championship medal. Yes, until today and above 30 years of age, a time not considered your best running years. This lifted my spirits as it showed that if you continue to persevere there are rewards. My reward for the weekend was being able to see these remarkable performances. Who knows what exciting things tomorrow shall bring
