Well, it has been a while, the time has flown by while in the midst and throes of developments of the internet kind. It goes without saying that the internet plays a major role in my day to day life and inevitably my business life. In a space of 6 to 8 months I have had the pleasure and displeasure of testing, using and discarding everything from software to affiliates and attitudes.
It has been a plan of mine to develop a portal where I would use a blog to discuss all the intricate details of developing internet portals and the use of software and the pitfalls of affiliates and then the good things that are out there on the internet.
Some 8 years ago, I needed to make a career change and ventured towards the internet in the form of web design. My very first website I developed was done with Frontpage and I used the book "Frontpage in easy steps".
The site to be designed was for a friend and it was to be an accommodation website. I started off designing the site in HTML format and I was soon to have the basics of a site developed with a rotating logo on the front page and ENTER directly below it.
Oh yes, the joys of the early days. February 2000.
The internet bubble had burst and I began to analyse things from my perspective (always my old downfall, I see things how I want to). The one thing that stood out for me was that they poured money into things without having anything to attract their prospective clients and users.
They lacked content.
I got a little carried away with my first project, especially considering my payment of computer ram, a printer and a 2nd hand ancient computer (bless my cotton socks), and I began developing a rich content site with data about everything related to accommodation and the tourist sites to see surrounding the accommodation.
I then noticed that the friend I was developing all of this for, and from whom I had not asked for an extra bean as it had become a project I wanted to prove a point with regarding content, was not understanding and appreciating what was being developed.
So I stopped there. Then and there I decided to pour my time into the development of a portal in a subject I knew quite well.
So today, if you go to Google and type
The World's best online running information
you will begin to understand what became of that quest. It should still certainly be listed. The site is still in HTML and I am still trying to move it onto CMS and the other bells and whistles (the /forums is on the new format) but it is there.
So now I have garbled and I have reached saturation point and you will notice that I have not said much more about what was going to be written about.
Now that is the nature of the beast
Of course I shall get to everything however I had to start somewhere after my sabbatical from this alter.
So till later and my apologies for maybe not covering certain things you want to read now but I can assure you I shall, if not here, then definitely on the blog I spoke about developing.
I hope you enjoyed the meandering mind
Cheers
